"The latest incident about BFM newsreader being threatened with death, rape and being burnt alive by those I assume to be Malay-Muslim netizens bring forth serious questions for this country. Is this country safe for our children to live in? If a simple point is raised against such issue such as Hudud or even such issue as democracy and clean elections can produce outburst of murder, rape and burning people alive, what does it say about our country, its citizens and our leadership?"... Aishah Tajuddin, a journalist from
BFM has made a controversional video that showed her questioning if Hudud helps
to fix the Economy matters in Kelantan as they still faced economical problems
and social issues such as drugs addiction. Moreover, she also stated that people nowadays love to use
the name of religion to distract people from important issues like economy and
governance that scarily produce outburst of immoral actions. As the
result, she has received a lot of threat from social media users with Malay
names, who accused her of insulting Islam.
When I'm make my further reading in themalaymailonline.com, I
totally understand what is actually happened with this issue. The author also
stated that facebook page Kelantan Story &
Jj Stall Story posted the same video and said in its post: “More insults against
Kelantan and Islam throughout the world. What should we do with this sort of
person?”
“Burn her alive,” wrote a Facebook user called Hairul Azzua.
Facebook user called Inche Oleh wrote: “Wait till I rape you,
woman.”
Another Facebook user, named Hajjee Azz Abdul, called Aisyah
a “stupid *****”.
A YouTube user called Khairul Azri commented on the
video-sharing site: “If I see you in front of me, I’ll shoot you in the head."
These comments shows that people are madly angry of Aishah's statement in her video. People’s madness over the new is
not a totally wrong because bringing up such issues of might touch on some religion's sensitivity. However, what Aishah has asked in the video has nothing wrong too. The questions she questioned in the video is valid and might give answers to our society who justyfying the same issue too. Does hudud really help economy? Does hudud help to fix the social issues like drug and rape cases? Someone authorities should come with the right answer, not let go of people to make her question a funny jokes.
The things that people should consider are, if not Aishah who brought up such issue, will anyone ever do? Everyone has their right to let out their views on certain issue but they also must know our country sensitivities. Don't just be a keyboard warrior, come and voice up your opinion if you think it will opened people's eye widely. I deeply hope everyone will open their mind and try to accept opinions or criticism about crucial issues like this. Learn to be more understanding before we judge ;)
