I Did It ! :)

You have almost completed this semester, so, how do you view Critical Literacy now? If you have any comments and suggestions, please do so as it helps for the betterment of the course as a whole.

Now, as we already reach in week 12, our syllabus for this subject also almost come to the end. I might be happy when I think about this moment, however learning Critical Literacy is not a nightmare tho. Honestly, The road of completing this subject is really challenging. It makes me burnt the midnight oil to do a lot of research again and again. I think it is not only me but the whole DEC Semester 4's student, can't get enough of sleep in order to make sure we did the tasks completely even not to its fullest. However, something miracle about this subject is that, it is not only will opened your eyes widely, but the way you judge or evaluate something happened around you will also change 360 degree.

Critical Literacy is the effort to understand the minds of others, and learning about others’ thoughts is something very interesting. I think the word ‘like’ does not quite capture my feeling anymore. I love learning about people’s thoughts. The funny thing is there are requirements which I have to fulfil, which is thinking again and again, and yes, I have made it babe !

I want to close with this small note; be brave and encourage enough to face something new. Stop torturing yourself with all bad things that you heard. If you want try something, then try with your best. If you do not get it, be grateful that you tried and look at what you already learn then appreciate it. In the end, God knows best.

Furthermore, I want to take this chances to say lots of thank you to the best and open-minded lecturer ever, Madam Zariati for teaching me this subject. You have opened my eyes to see the world around me differently. And it is the thing that make me being more matured in term of evaluating the things happened.

As for my juniors , the thing that I can suggest is that make sure you manage your time very well. Follow the instructions given to you and do not worry about the whole thing. You cannot swallow a whole chicken. Take it one bite at a time. It is awesome that you will take Critical Literacy, trust me. There is so much that you can learn inside the classes and outside of them. Do not underestimate yourself just because you do not get the chance to manage the subject. Goodluck ;)

Lots of love,

Life Is Showcase !

"Life is a mere illusion and just like the world is a stage as we use it as stepping stone for a showcase of our talent"

Life sometimes can be hard and sometimes it can be easy for people to go through and live in. Sometimes we don't know what we want in our life and what is our  journey that we have to face and go through in future. In this world, people show their talent and creativeness in order to live their life . World is like a stepping stone for a showcase of our talents. We always think that a life like a dream. Certain things what we wanted we achieved, we succeed to get it but certain are not.

The life that we been living in is nothing but as an illusion where we couldn't achieved what we wanted in life and we have to tell ourselves lies every single day just to make through the day unless we do something is despicable to achieved our dream. Whereas not every dream that we dream during our childhood is likely able to achieved as when we were young we don't know much about the reality of the world since the only thing we can see when we were a child everything is wonderful and if we put our back into what we were doing we will surely achieved that and yet what we don't know is that maybe we are not the one holding ourselves back but it was our surrounding, the people we know, the culture in that we live in for a while now. Quoted Albert Einstein, "reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one".

Furthermore, I believe we need to struggle to survive through every single day as what we are doing is not what truly wanted to do. Which is why what need to realize is that what we are today is because of the decision that we made yesterday and if the result of our decision making keep give out same result it means that we need to take other option when we were in our decision making process. The society themselves also tend to not show their true selves. If we look at the way of their life and their lifestyle doesn't match at all. The society have the tendency of not showing who they really are because not every physical appearance can reflect on what type of a person in the society. According to Ferguson Ross, "We identify people by their features, possessions, status, career, and social associations – but these are merely the people, props, and plotlines of our lives, they are not what’s important; what’s important is our being.  What’s important is who we are on the inside."

Whatever the thing is, we should always set our goal, keep dreaming because it is the one who make us now ;)

Our Questions- Does It Acceptable?

"The latest incident about BFM newsreader being threatened with death, rape and being burnt alive by those I assume to be Malay-Muslim netizens bring forth serious questions for this country. Is this country safe for our children to live in? If a simple point is raised against such issue such as Hudud or even such issue as democracy and clean elections can produce outburst of murder, rape and burning people alive, what does it say about our country, its citizens and our leadership?"... Prof Dr. Mohamad Tajuddin Mohammad Rasdi.

How do you view?

Aishah Tajuddin, a journalist from BFM has made a controversional video that showed her questioning if Hudud helps to fix the Economy matters in Kelantan as they still faced economical problems and social issues such as drugs addiction. Moreover, she also stated that people nowadays love to use the name of religion to distract people from important issues like economy and governance that scarily produce outburst of immoral actions. As the result, she has received a lot of threat from social media users with Malay names, who accused her of insulting Islam.

When I'm make my further reading in themalaymailonline.com, I totally understand what is actually happened with this issue. The author also stated that facebook page Kelantan Story & Jj Stall Story posted the same video and said in its post: “More insults against Kelantan and Islam throughout the world. What should we do with this sort of person?”

“Burn her alive,” wrote a Facebook user called Hairul Azzua.
Facebook user called Inche Oleh wrote: “Wait till I rape you, woman.”
Another Facebook user, named Hajjee Azz Abdul, called Aisyah a “stupid *****”.

A YouTube user called Khairul Azri commented on the video-sharing site: “If I see you in front of me, I’ll shoot you in the head."

These comments shows that people are madly angry of Aishah's statement in her video. People’s madness over the new is not a totally wrong because bringing up such issues of might touch on some religion's sensitivity. However, what Aishah has asked in the video has nothing wrong too. The questions she questioned in the video is valid and might give answers to our society who justyfying the same issue too. Does hudud really help economy? Does hudud help to fix the social issues like drug and rape cases? Someone authorities should come with the right answer, not let go of people to make her question a funny jokes.

The things that people should consider are, if not Aishah who brought up such issue, will anyone ever do? Everyone has their right to let out their views on certain issue but they also must know our country sensitivities. Don't just be a keyboard warrior, come and voice up your opinion if you think it will opened people's eye widely. I deeply hope everyone will open their mind and try to accept opinions or criticism about crucial issues like this. Learn to be more understanding before we judge ;)

WOMEN SHOULDN'T BE BEHIND THE WHEEL- |STEREOTYPE IN SOCIETY|

"Stereotyping is exaggerated generalizations associated with a categorizing system, they go beyond the facts at hand and make claims that usually have no valid basis. However, it is also something that most people find difficult to avoid from doing. So, let's explore your sense of tendency to make generalizations by expanding the following statement: Women shouldn't be behind the wheel.."

Did you ever hear you mom or dad talking that “This might be a female’s driver” when they are driving behind a slow car? Yes, this stereotype in our society is not a new thing to hear about, yet women drives a vehicle in the road always bring up a serious issue to the worldwide.

The problem tends to become simpler if you ask for a men's point of view. They will say that women’s driver are slow, hesitant, unpredictable, lack space orientation, don't park well and so on. Even though me myself a woman, I have to agree with all of the reason because sometimes while I'm driving I can see that many women are not focusing very well or even not alert to other road users.

However, women are less at fault in car accidents than men and this is because it is generally believed that women tend to drive more carefully and at lower speeds than the opposite sex. Women are hesitant and unpredictable, that fit in this category are either beginners in driving or if they don't know the route. No matter how difficult the situation is, they should learn and master it because if men can, why can't they?

What we should keep in mind before judging a female driver is that no matter how hesitant, slow and unpredictable, one should be aware that driving, first of all is about having a high responsibility.

Zaza

Critical Literacy ; It's Killed !

"You heard comments maybe grievances from your seniors about Critical Literacy, but what is/are your expectation(s) or hope for this subject as  you are just started"

“You better be careful with this subject, Zafirah. It will killed you slowly”

“This subject is just too terrible. And it is hard to get an A’s for this subject if you do not put your fullest effort”

“You will get a lot of assignment soon and your live will get messy. Just wait ! ”

These sentences were playing in my mind for the past few weeks until now. Every time when I jumped out with my DEC’s seniors, majority of them will say the same things about the Critical Literacy. It makes me feel frightened and scared to learn this new subject. Even its initial named, “Critical” makes this subject sound scarier. (First perspective will influence you, they said -.-‘)

I could remember reading a status posted on facebook by one of my seniors in my college stating "Critical literacy is killing me" and it was posted at 3AM. I was in mix emotions because in my head i had visualized myself suffering with distraught doing critical literacy's assignments and had to burn the midnight oil.

However, I do have a lot of expectation beyond my fear. Everything won’t come to you, if you not put any effort on it.Giving up on something before you giving it a try is not a choice. Hey, everybody should at least have faith of themselves, right? I believe that if I come out with good strategies and plans, I will pass this subject with flying colours.

Lots of love,
Zaza
